Campsites and currency for Netherlands Holiday..
Campsites and currency for Netherlands Holiday..
Just looking for some pointers regarding Camping in the Netherlands..ie What on average the campsites charge per night and also some advice for carrying currency. Is it ok to rely on credit/debit cards backed up with taking some Euros or perhaps Travellers cheques..
Re: Campsites and currency for Netherlands Holiday..
Get a Halifax Clarity credit card and get cash advances out of any cash machine. Its the cheapest way to get local currency practically anywhere abroad. All you pay is a small bit of interest and you get the best exchange rate.

normal credit/debit cards also work, and there are ATMs all over the place. I've just come through the Netherlands but the campsites I tried were closed, so I don't know the prices. I would imagine similar to France at €10-15 depending on the site.
I didn't know travellers cheques still existed, I thought they had been phased out.
cheers,

Re: Campsites and currency for Netherlands Holiday..
Last summer I stayed at Nature Campsites which were lovely and around 5-10 euros. http://www.natuurkampeerterreinen.nl/en/
I've also stayed at farm campsites - one website for these is http://www.kamperen-bij-de-boer.com/sitemap.html - which is only in dutch though google translate made a reasonable job of translating.
http://holland.cyclingaroundtheworld.nl ... mping.html might also be useful.
I took my Visa Debit card and had no problem getting cash but was surprised to find it wasn't accepted in supermarkets - there is often a queue just for paying with their special cards so look out for these - called 'pinnen' I think.
There's loads on the forum about touring in The Netherlands so have a search.
