Eurovelo 5 Details
As the Eurovelo site (http://www.ecf.com/83_1) has no information on it and a search only reveals this on Wiki...
"This route is also a Pilgrim route although not used as much as the Santiago route. It is called the Via Francigena and was first recorded by Archbishop Sigeric in the 10thC AD. It has recently been awarded EU funds to reinstate hostelry organisation and for route improvement. There is an active supporters group in several countries and route maps, and Santiago style passports for stamping at abbeys and cathedrals on the way, may be bought from the national organisers. The route goes from London to Brindisi through Rome and via the St. Bernard's pass in Switzerland."
...I suspect the route is still a concept. But I could be wrong.

thanks for the reply,
ive read this too but from inspection of the Eurovelo route map, the EV 5 takes a different route to that of the pilgrims, for instance crossing through Switzerland at Basel south down to Chiasso / Como area,
http://www.ecf.com/83_1
however from Perma down to Rome seems like the same route. Not sure if they have amended the route to completely follow the Via Francegina since the map was made or last updated.
For this reason i was interested as I am needing a route from Chiasso / Como down to Rome. Italy themselves have produced a few national routes, one being called Ciclopista del sole, from which i can follow from Mantova.
So was wandering if any1 had a predone route for Chiasso area to Mantova. If not i can buy the michellin maps and bridge the gap off the cuff.
