A ride along Hampshire's coast. 25 miles from home I found a place to watch the sunrise on a bitter cold night in November.

Lovely sunrise photos. I'll have to pay a visit to the observatory, I only live across the water, although I suspect first thing on a winter's morning is the only time it isn't busy.

We walked past early afternoon on Sunday 22 Nov - not what I would call busy, as it's a reasonable trek from Lymington or Keyhaven and on the 'long' route between the twopedalsheep wrote:I'll have to pay a visit to the observatory, I only live across the water, although I suspect first thing on a winter's morning is the only time it isn't busy.
Wouldn't catch me out there on a November night though, it was cold enough at sunset

It's only there until the 28th December, after that it will be moved to somewhere near Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock on the Dorset Coast between mid January 2016 and early July 2016.
Late night and early morning is quiet.

Well done Faraway, thanks for a lovely little vignette.
I read it while sitting on a balcony overlooking the Mekong River, but as an Essex Boy who spent a fair bit of his childhood playing around our marshes it was a nice reminder of home.
I loved the airpump video and now know you look just like your picture. Such a rare thing nowadays.
When I first saw the title of your post, I was going to say that you could have sat on Pitsea Marshes and watched the sun rise over Canvey Island, but that would have been churlish of me.

Simon, that's quite a compliment. Thank you. Maybe one day, I'll write about Pitsea marshes.

Great little trip, lets me know I've been such a wimp for not getting out recently!
Fantastic Sunrise!
