interpreting singapore airlines baggage policy...

Post by aThousandTurns »

Can I get some help interpreting Singapore Airlines baggage policy, please?

So I'm assuming from the information provided that on a trip from Australia to Europe I have 30kg checked baggage allowance and it could be a bike box plus a bag, if that's what works best for me. What do other people think?

When we flew to New Zealand earlier this year with Singapore Airlines, I took two items of luggage - a bike and a large bag full of clothes etc. - which fit within the 30kg limit, and they were absolutely fine with that. (The bike was a Bike Friday in a suitcase rather than a bike bag, but I doubt that makes any difference.)

I agree that you get 30 kgs. It doesn't mention number of pieces so I guess it must be multiple. This is what I get on Emirates and is common on many Middle Eastern and Asian airlines.

I found the bit on most significant carrier and the allowance very interesting. I know this was discussed in another post about multiple carriers.

Hi Simon - good to 'see' you here (I found my way to the CTC forum on your recommendation).

Yeah, I always check the policy of all the different carriers, so as not to end up in trouble.

Flew Singapore Airline between Manchester and Munich last month.
No problem with bike in a plastic bag plus pannier bag.
For carry on 2nd pannier bag and handlebar bar.
