Long Service Award

Post by gaz »

Just got mine, 25 years behind (handle)bars with the CTC.
CTC badge.jpg

It was most unexpected, partly because I'd lost track of exactly how many years I've been a member, but mostly because I'd no idea the CTC did these!

It was particularly nice to see that both the badge and accompanying certificate are based on the traditional Winged Wheel.

Are there any more I can expect as time goes by?

That is nice.

Congratulations. :D

I hope I live long enough to get something like that.

Great!
Well done!

Is this 25 years without a break, or 25years total?

I feel cheated! I've just looked at my membership card.
I joined on 1st Jan 1976, so I've been a member for just over 36 years. I've not got any badges :(

wanders off sulking...

edited for bad English...

Hang on!?

I was just about to start a thread to say how delighted I was to unexpectedly receive a 25 year membership certificate this morning (notwithstanding that it made me suddenly feel very old  ), and I read here that gaz got a badge!? Where's mine?!

Much as I like the Certificate, a badge would be lovely....

I'll drop a note to CTC office.

Check the envelope. Seriously. I nearly missed mine, you can't miss the certificate, and it was only reading through the accompanying letter that made me give the envelope a good shake.

Sorry to hear that others who passed this milestone some years earlier did not receive any recognition....

Congratulatons Gaz. I like the traditional badge. :D

To those with 25 yrs or more who haven't received a badge check the date joined on your membership card. Due to a cockup with my direct debit payment mine shows as nine years later than I actually joined despite being a member continuously for 13 years.
Perhaps something similar amy have happened to you.

Thanks Gaz!!

Check and check again. Sure enough it had fallen out and somehow deposited itself off the side of the table and in a darkened corner without me noticing!

Please ignore previous post

Anyhow, congratulations to us both eh?! There was me with my Raleigh Medale and my Freewheel catalogue in 1987 ... Memories.

Yes, congrats to us both. Jan '87, Raleigh Maverick 15 with a knackered rear hub and shortly after a knackered rear mech when it couldn't cope with the snowdrifts. Once those problems were sorted that bike saw some miles. Happy days. :D

Even longer for me. 44 years years continuous membership (1968).
I remember that the 25 years award used to be a hall marked silver one some years ago and I thought that when they disappeared the whole award scheme was discontinued. I don't really mind, it would only live in a drawer anyway.

There is the even more coveted "25 years puncture-free" award. Only Mick has one.

BTW, still not had one.
This is despite that on Friday I was riding along a narrow lane strewn with hedge clippings - and there was a long length of hawthorn across the road and I had no choice but to ride over it.
