Failed login

Post by Mick F »

Just tried to log in and found this:
Failedlogin.jpg
I tried again, same result.

I quitted my browser - deleting all history and cookies - and still came up with a failed login.

It says I exceeded the number of attempted logins. No I didn't, I only tried once!

Could someone have been trying to log in for me?? Some sort of person with mal intent??

PS.
Off Up North later this morning, and I'm not sure if I'll be on line again until Thursday morning. I'll try and check in, but no promises.

TTFN.

Mick,

I have just been repeatedly obstructed by the image verification whilst trying to get another user back into action.

Hopefully, this has just been a glitch, now fixed.

Yes, probably. Usernames are public on the forum, so I expect malicious people occasionally try to log in with commonly-used passwords.

My "admin" login gets this quite regularly, as people try to login as admin with common passwords. Luckily my admin password is long and convoluted :)

I've just logged on, using this computer for the first time for a while. I normally never log out but when I came to the forum just now I was logged out. On my first log in attempt (which I'm pretty sure I had entered correctly) it told me I had had too many attempts and I had to use the thing where you type in the disguised characters.

Again, the first attempt failed although that may be because I had misread the code.

I got in OK at the second attempt with the code, third attempt overall. It's hard to imagine there is any mileage for some computer anorak coming on here disguised as me. :?

Hi guys!
Just logged in ok, and it's "good" to hear that I'm not the only one having problems.

I think I'll get my password strengthened ......

Regards from Manchester.

I've just been forced through the image verification again.

It would appear that someone/persons are trying to hack into various Usernames.

I would never have thought it would be necessary to strengthen my password on this forum, but that is what I'm going to do now.

Good Lord! I'd better do the same. In the meantime, I hope that forum members will be wary of what may he happening. In particular, any post of less than 500 words under the username 'thirdcrank' may well be a forgery.

I have started checking all my posts and I ask myself "Who on earth wrote all this rubbish?"

No, hang on a minute that last post is less than 500 words. Was it really him?

This identity theft stuff is complicated isn't it. :?

I've had my doubts about your ID ever since you stopped being a perfectly normal-looking dalek and became somebody on a bike with what looks suspiciously like a saddlebag AND mudguards. You can never be too careful.

Here again very briefly.

Just had to go through the verification procedure again. My password is very strong!

I wonder if this new development has anything to do with the new registration page warning about needing to be approved? Maybe the spammers need a new way in?

I had it yesterday and I must be a bit robotic because it normally takes me three goes to get through those things.

I've been in and out of the forum since 8ish this morning.
I was on only a few minutes ago too.
Just tried to log back in and had to fill in the numbers/letters again.

I think we have a banned member, not a prospective spammer, trying to get back in. He won't crack my password!!

If you're reading this, please go away.
