How to subscribe to a thread

I have posted a thread and I am sure that I ticked "Notify me when a reply is posted" but I am not being notified and it is not mentioned under "WATCHED TOPICS" in my "Manage subscriptions". I have checked my email and that is correct. Sorry if I appear a bit dim, but I cannot see any way to subscribe to a thread, can anyone please help?

This thread is in the "WATCHED TOPICS", and strangely, after I replied again to the thread that I posted, that thread has now appeared in my "WATCHED TOPICS" !

Having said that there is also the "Notify me when a reply is posted" box which I have checked for this thread, both options add it to the subscriptions list in my user control panel.

IRC there are a number of other threads that suggest the subscribe to a thread / notify me services are unreliable.

The forum is run on a shoe-string budget, tracking down and resolving such issues is unlikely to be high on the priority list.
