Strangely enough, around here the Council pay better than the independent.

The independent supplies T shirt, name badge and HiViz (and you can also get some bike bits at trade price through them). You can also borrow a bike and lid from them when doing a session.

The Council is _meant_ to supply the kids' hivizes, a pannier cover and a hiviz for lead instructors.

Both offer free CPD, the independent actually doing it for the Council.

Best bits - the kids - rapidly aquiring skill, confidence, ability, and their sense of sheer fun. I did it for them and loved it.

Worst bits - some of the adults - some soppy teachers, occasional rude parent, dangerous drivers, some abusive motorists (in front of kids), and politically correct mumbo jumbo from the council jobsworth.

Ideal person - competent frequent cyclist who likes being out with lots of kids.
