Superglue (cyanoacrylate) works very well.

Edit: works on toe clip straps too.

If you want even more useless information... aiglet is also spelled aglet or (the most common spelling in the USA) agelet. And if you really want to splurge, bespoke precious metal and bejewelled replacements are available...

Yeah but...
That tool may seal laces, but as they are often over-sized compared to eye lets, the aiglet device serves to easily thread the lace through eye let. Anyway, a hot knife would easily cut through nylon laces.

Would the small caps you put over cable ends to stop them fraying work ?
