I've a 60cm 1987 British Eagle. Definitely older than the one under discussion. I have the original sales leaflet from British Eagle (not for sale) in which they describe the bike as 'probably the best production touring cycle made in the UK today' and 'the cycle for the connoisseur enthusiast'. It was then priced at £283 and was their most expensive machine.
It's a really nice bike to ride. Or should I say was as it got damaged by a careless driver and needs new forks. Repairs, incl re-enamel will probably be about £150 plus but to me it's worth doing. Hell, it's only money..
