why we don't have a place for the "odd" bikes.DONE

Post by stevew »

I originally asked this way back when the forum was re-vamped but it was po-pooed then saying that it would split the cycling community.
Well I ride an upright trike sometimes and a recumbent trike sometimes and normal DF bikes sometimes. Therefore I'm interested in these odd-ball machines as well as DFs. It would be nice to be able to communicate with others with similar interests on this forum but generally it's hard, if not impossible, to find threads about these unusual machines on this forum.
So please guys, can we have an "unconventional machines" heading ?
What do you think ?

I'd be all for a board specificly for folders, bents, trikes, tandems, fixies, uni-cycles, ordinaries and the even more strange (see above).

See point proven !! We need the "sad old gits" bit !!!!
What would the UK be without it's eccentrics ?

Yes please Si

BTW here's a pic of my odd machine (sadly can't compete with the sofas for weirdness !!)

But what i'd really like is one of these

I'm sure I'll never be able to afford one, nice to dream though.

BTW which one is you HGF ?

Sounds great to me! I vote Yes.

I don't remember the question in the past, though. Must've missed it.

I presume this is a meeting of the CTC Recumbent Tricyclists Member Group Officers. Chap at the back in the Flo wastcoat must be the Welfare Officer.

Aye I say we should - as long as we all get to have a go on them!

I think I saw one of the "sofas" at Get Cycling at Nottingham last month, although I didn't have a camera with me. Also saw an amazing circular machine with saddles and pedals for 7 people, facing into the centre. One saddle was higher and that was for the person who had the steering and brakes. Must have been some interesting gears converting all that pedal-power to one direction.

Novelty bikes are fun, but as I also use a conventional folder and electric bike on the roads, I think a "non-standard" forum section would be good.

Originally I voted no, but after thinking about it I guess the best way to find out is to create one and see. So can I change my vote to yes!

By the way I ride a fixie, but probably wouldn't bother reading a section devoted to them. I'm just a cyclist that likes to be able to break with my feet.

I find going through other forums which do provide a separate area for bents far easier to pick out things that interest me.

Sorry, but I have no interest in DF bikes, will never buy one, but will buy a recumbent trike and possibly other recumbents in the future. Try finding posts that are about recumbents here at present without doing a major search! Easier to go somewhere else which then takes away some of the purpose of this forum.
